Prof. Dr. med. Peter Wehling (born 1955) engages himself as founder in the management of the Foundation for Molecular Medicine. The orthopaedic surgeon learned about the molecular medicine through a research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. There he also got in contact with the internationally well-known molecular biologist Chris Evans from the Harvard University. In 1991 Wehling habilitated with a work on “Pain” at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf.

One year later he settled down as orthopaedic surgeon in his own clinic in Düsseldorf. In 1993 Wehling founded the biotech-company ORTHOGEN AG, which operates in the research and production of biologicals and organic material.

Furthermore is Wehling an active member in several medical associations like the German Association of Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgeon (Head of research group molecular biology) and the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) (European Representative).
